PCN Ready.

How much does a poison centre notification cost?

Direct answer: The ECHA portal is free. A consultancy charges roughly €280–550 for a first notification, €80–150 per extra country and around €200 per update. Doing it yourself in IUCLID costs no money but typically a working day per product the first time, plus translation. A self-serve tool like PCN Ready is priced per product and takes about an hour of your time.

Member state fees

A few member states charge the notifier a fee on receipt. These are set by the country, not by ECHA, and are listed in ECHA's overview of member-state decisions. Sweden does not charge.

Hidden costs

  • Translations into every required language
  • The time to find non-hazardous components that are not in the SDS
  • Re-doing a failed submission after a validation error
  • Keeping the notification current: every formulation change, every new country

A worked example

Eight products sold in Sweden, Finland and Germany. Consultancy: about €4 400 plus country fees and translations. DIY: two working days plus translations, and a compliance risk if you skip languages. PCN Ready: one per-product price, all three languages included, under an hour per product.
